A major focus of Joint Commission surveys for the next several years will be clinical alarm management. One key component of clinical alarm management is alarm fatigue. There has been much work done on physiologic monitoring and the attention will be now moving toward ventilator alarms. This presentation will help therapists take an objective look at alarm fatigue as it pertains to mechanical ventilation as well as BiPAP, ETCO2 and Pulse Oximeters.
