By: AARC Staff

AARC will be participating in a webcast sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) on ventilator alarms.

Scheduled for May 11 from noon to 1 p.m. (Eastern), Nurses and Respiratory Therapists: Working Together for Safe Alarm Systems Management will feature a nurse and a respiratory therapist who will examine how nursing and respiratory therapists can work together to successfully handle ventilator alarms. It is a free webcast and has been approved for 1 CRCE.

Shawna Strickland, associate executive director of education at the American Association for Respiratory Care, and Jenifer L. Burke, a pediatric nurse practitioner at Rush University Medical Center, will share practical tips. Respiratory therapists and other healthcare professionals are encouraged to register for the webcast on the AAMI website.

This ventilator alarm webcast is designed to boost awareness and understanding of alarms by healthcare providers and decision makers and help healthcare facilities comply with The Joint Commission’s 2013 National Patient Safety Goal on clinical alarm safety.
