Back in April several of the world’s ventilator manufacturers formed a Ventilator Training Alliance (VTA) and partnered with Allego to create a mobile app that front-line medical providers can use to access a centralized repository of ventilator training resources. Dräger, GE Healthcare, Getinge, Hamilton Medical, Medtronic, Nihon Kohden, and Philips joined this humanitarian training coalition. The VTA app – powered by learning and readiness platform provider Allego – connects respiratory therapists, nurses and other medical professionals with ventilator training resources from alliance member companies, including instructional how-to videos, manuals, troubleshooting guides, and other ventilator-operation expertise critical to helping responders treat patients suffering from COVID-19-related respiratory distress.
The AARC is a proud member of the VTA, supporting the battle against COVID-19 with free access to ventilator training information. We recently reached an incredible milestone, 60,000+ downloads of the VTA app. These downloads have helped provide critical respiratory health information to users in 196 countries. This covers the app-driven world (Apple and Google play markets), with the exception of Greenland, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Kosovo, Eritrea and Equatorial Guinea. We have come together to truly impact global health care.
The VTA has also been recognized for our innovative COVID-19 response by two different organizations:
- Silver Stevie Award Winner for “Most Valuable Medical Innovation”
- Gold IT World Awards Winner for “Tackling COVID-19 with Innovative Ways”
The Stevie Awards are a well-known award from International Business Awards with about 4,000 entrants per year across 70+ countries that has been in operation for nearly 20 years, and the IT World Awards, who fielded over 600 entries across categories, started a special Covid-19 response category this year where we earned a gold. These accomplishments are no small feat and represent just how impactful the work these organizations are doing together is.
