Country star Billy Dawson created a song written to the AARC family. In the middle of a global pandemic, which has caused our members to sacrifice time with loved ones, work long shifts, and sacrifice their own health for that of their patients, this song serves as a piece of encouragement.

The AARC was introduced to Billy in 2016 by the COPD Foundation as their Ambassador for Harmonicas for Health. Billy attended the 2016 AARC Congress in San Antonio Texas where he participated in the Patient Advocacy Summit, the ARCF Fundraiser, Big Ideas Theater, played an acoustic version of the National Anthem in the Opening Ceremony, and raffled off a “Nashville Experience” to one lucky AARC Congress attendee. Billy is a long-time patient and child advocate that uses his music talent and his Nashville connections to support charitable causes.

Billy hopes the song he wrote provides a sense of togetherness for respiratory therapists and gives our members the strength to keep carrying on. We will get through this together and come out on the other side stronger.

Spread the Encouragement

We challenge you to send us a video of your respiratory therapy team singing along to the song to addie.matthews@AARC.org so we can spread the encouragement around the internet.

Lyrics

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP
KEEP THEM LUNGS STRONG
KEEP ON HANGING TOUGH
TILL ALL THIS IS GONE
A NEW DAY WILL COME
A NEW BREATH TO BREATHE
TOUCHING ONE LUNG AT A TIME, WITH THE AARC
