In this episode of Big Ideas Theater, Douglas S. Gardenhire, EdD, RRT, RRT-NPS, FAARC, from Georgia State University visits the stage to discuss pharmacologic management for asthma. Gardenhire discusses the resurgence of several over the counter medications for asthma and how it has affected the job of the respiratory therapist.
Gardenhire goes on to discuss the many ways RTs can help patients manage their asthma without the use of over the counter drugs. He believes that working with a respiratory therapist is more likely to help patients in the long-run.
