Ed Anderson touts a new articulation agreement between his community college and the University of Kansas (KU) in this article in the Leader & Times out of Kansas. The agreement will allow RRTs who graduated from his program to go on and earn their bachelor’s degree from KU with just another year of study. “It’s a game-changer, a real opportunity for our students,” Ed was quoted as saying. “I sure wouldn’t pass it up.”

Debbie Dorshorst talks about diacetyl in e-cigarettes and the potential dangers it poses to people who use the electronic devices in this article and video on OzarksFirst.com. “As a respiratory therapist my thought is, if you’re inhaling it into your lungs, that’s a foreign particle that shouldn’t be there,” Debbie was quoted as saying.

Christie Concepcion explains how respiratory therapists help people with lung conditions in an article in the Oskaloosa News out of Iowa. “We see patients that have both long-term and short-term conditions that require therapy to help improve their quality of life,” she was quoted as saying. Christie also wrote an article on the topic for her hospital website.

Matalie Deane is an instructor in a class aimed at helping people with respiratory problems manage their conditions and she talks about the class and how a recent forest fire in the area is exacerbating symptoms for some people in this article and video on the NBC-TV website out of Virginia. “Everybody I’ve had that has come in the last couple of days are struggling because the smoke that’s coming over from the mountain, from the forest fire, is not helping their breathing at all,” she was quoted as saying.

Robert Vega and Jung Eun Kim’s RT program has earned the Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award from CoARC, and the achievement is covered in this article on the college website. Robert says 100% of their graduates have received the RRT since 2008.
