About Marcus
Kerr is originally from South Texas and grew up in a family of educators.
“My father was a school superintendent, and my mother was an elementary school counselor,” Kerr said. “From a career perspective, I started down the technology path when I was a high school teacher and coach.”
Kerr would volunteer to go to every tech-related professional development offered in exchange for coming back and training his colleagues on what he learned. He loved it so much he decided to get his master’s degree and started to research and publish on the effective use of technology in education. He then moved into the technology field full time.
I started as a deskside technician, progressed up the career ladder and have spent the last 13 years in senior technology leadership roles,” Kerr said.
Most recently, Kerr worked as a senior director for a large aviation training company, managing all client-facing applications and instructional technologies and overseeing two Profit and Loss centers for the company. Prior to that, Kerr served a decade as Chief Information Officer at a regional university overseeing a full portfolio of technology services.
“I look forward to working with an exceptional team of talented individuals within AARC and using my knowledge, skills, and abilities to provide high-quality, member-focused technology services in support of AARC’s mission as the foremost professional association promoting respiratory therapists,” Kerr said.
