In the fifth program of the 2021 Current Topics in Respiratory Care video series, lecturer Natalie Napolitano, MPH, RRT, RRT- NPS, FAARC, discusses ‘Optimizing Mechanical Ventilation (Graphics and Adjuncts).’
This lecture will review some underutilized waveform basics that can make a big difference in optimizing the patient ventilator interaction. We will also discuss calculations that can be derived from the waveforms, such as driving pressure, and the utilization of adjuncts such as esophageal pressure monometry (Pes) and electrical impedance tomography (EIT) to bring added information and detection of lung phenomena that would suggest the need to change ventilation settings or ventilation strategy.
