Spirometry is a common pulmonary function test used to diagnose various pulmonary diseases, like asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These tests can be completed in the physician’s office by non-respiratory therapists, but a quality spirometry test requires training and practice. The AARC Office Spirometry Certificate program provides non-respiratory therapists the necessary education for quality spirometry as well as an opportunity to demonstrate skill in performing the test.
Who should participate?
This program is great for any non-respiratory therapist who performs spirometry in the outpatient setting. You must have access to a digital spirometer and to a fax machine or online fax service (for submitting spirometry tracings).

- A 45-minute independent study video-based instructional course
- A 40-question post-course evaluation (70% score required to successfully complete)
