The AARC education team will kick off its new Summer Webcast Series on June 10. The series includes three webcasts and runs through July 8. Participants will need to register for each webcast in the series separately.
June 10 – “Artificial Airway Suctioning and Clearance in 2020”
Presented by Brady Scott, MS, RRT, RRT-ACCS, AE-C, FAARC
Maintaining a patent airway is vital in patients with artificial airways. This presentation will discuss the clinical indications for artificial airway clearance, identify hazards associated with airway clearance, and discuss novel airway clearance devices in specific clinical cases.
Sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant from Medline.
June 25 – “Non-Pharmacologic Methods of Airway Clearance”
Presented by Terry Volsko, MBA, MHHS, RRT, CMTE, FAARC
Providing airway clearance therapy for both acute and chronic disease processes is common for respiratory therapists. This presentation will focus on indications for airway clearance, discuss the evidence available for various airway clearance techniques, and how the evidence can be applied in clinical practice.
Sponsored by an unrestricted educational grant from Monaghan.
July 8 – “Pharmacologic Methods of Airway Clearance”
Presented by Doug Gardenhire, EdD, RRT, RRT-NPS, FAARC
Using inhaled medication for encouraging airway clearance is common though not always rooted in the evidence. This presentation will focus on specific pharmacologic agents, including indications, contraindications, effectiveness, and hazards of each agent. The presentation will also address how the evidence for each agent can be applied in clinical practice.
