Good Press spotlights AARC members mentioned in the news media at a local and national level. Here is the latest list of news makers:

Rich Kallet’s long career in respiratory research at UCSF takes center stage in this article on the UCSF website. Rich first became interested in the work being done there as a student in New York and moved to San Francisco when he was just 25 with the hopes of getting in on the action. “It was beyond my wildest imagination that being inspired by reading a paper almost 40 years ago would have such a profound impact on my career,” he was quoted as saying.

Chris Bosley’s recent trip to Vietnam to speak at the International Critical Care Conference-Pediatric Symposium is covered in this article in the Marshfield, WI, News-Herald.

Jerris Deron Sensabaugh’s face is all over Armstrong University in Savannah, GA. As a respiratory therapy major, he was chosen as the model for the university’s tobacco free campus initiative. This poster tells the story.

Walt Wilson and his students, Kaitlyn Grayson, Natrisha Dixon, and Rachel Allred, talk about donating equipment to Karen Schell’s medical mission to Ghana in this article in the Natchez, MS, Democrat. Joni Milluzzo’s durable medical equipment company is profiled in this article in The Landmark out of Massachusetts. Her priority? “To make sure that we’re taking care of the people in our area — that we’re there for them,” she was quoted as saying.

Linda Nelson is recognized for receiving the Greater Nebraska Respiratory Therapist of the Year award in this article in the Imperial, NE, Republican. The award is given annually by the Nebraska Society for Respiratory Care.

Tonya Edwards and her colleagues are congratulated for receiving CoARC’s Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award in this article in the Weatherford, TX, Democrat. “The instructors don’t just teach us how to pass the credentialing exams but they teach us how to learn, problem solve and think critically to provide the best care possible,” Respiratory Care Club President Rachael Davis was quoted as saying. Fellow student Lexie Sharbono echoed those sentiments, “Our program has been successful in professionalism and knowledge, and that is all due to our amazing teachers who will always go out of their way to help others.”

The Distinguished RRT Credentialing Success Award also went to Bruce Feistner’s program, and this article on the KDLT-TV website out of South Dakota offers kudos. “I’d again like to extend a sincere thank you to all the faculty and staff members who take part in the students’ education,” Bruce was quoted as saying. This marks the fourth year in a row the program has received the honor.

Anna Campo talks about one of her ALS patients and the love from his family that keeps him going in this article and video on the WWL-TV website out of Louisiana. “You look at that and you know that love is real. It’s there and when you find it you’re blessed, truly blessed,” she was quoted as saying.

Billy Woods’ latest graduating class is highlighted in this article in the Elkin, NC, Tribune.

Elyse Carroll and Stephanie Alderman talk about the benefits of pulmonary rehabilitation to patients’ quality of life and the bottom line in this article in the New Britain, CT, Herald. “Once we teach people how to live in a wellness situation, they make fewer emergency room visits with less of a negative impact on the cost of health care,” Elyse was quoted as saying.
