Kayla Morgan talks about a new medical helicopter added to her transport service in this news clip from the CBS-TV website out of Spokane, WA. “If one of our helicopters has maintenance then we have one ready to go in service,” she was quoted as saying.

Rhonda Vosmus applauds her city’s move to ban e-cigarettes in public places in this article and video on the NBC-TV website out of Portland, ME. “The health consequences of the use of e-cigarettes and exposure to second hand e-cigarette emissions are truly unknown,” she was quoted as saying. “What is definite is that there is currently no scientific evidence establishing the safety of e-cigarettes.”

Craig Smallwood co-authored a recent study on preoperative fasting times in children, and the research was covered in this article in Anesthesiology News. The bottom line: too many kids are subjected to prolonged fasting prior to surgery (more than 18 hours, in some cases).

Charged with organizing a community service event, RT student and class president Dylan Kadow came up with the Huff & Puff Fun Obstacle Run. Scheduled for May 16, the “tough mudder” style event was covered in this article in the Chronicle-Telegram out of Elyria, OH.

Kara McIlvain is congratulated for receiving one of four Distinguished Alumni Awards from her alma mater in this article in the Parsons, KS, Sun. Among other accomplishments, Kara was recognized for developing respiratory protocols that helped save her respiratory department thousands of dollars.

Gene Gantt’s appointment to the Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety (PPAHS) advisory board was announced in this press release on PRWeb.com. “Gene will be particularly instrumental in our goal to ensure that all patients receiving opioids in hospital are continuously electronically monitored,” PPAHS Executive Director Michael Wong, JD, was quoted as saying.

Bonnie Boggs is getting ready to retire as RT program director at a community college in Michigan, and this article in the college newspaper takes a look back at her career. “The best part of my job is working with students,” she was quoted as saying. “I have the privilege of being at the beginning of over 500 individuals who have selected this wonderful field of respiratory care.”

Carrie Bates comments on a recent air quality report that gave her county a “C” in this article on the NBC-TV website out of Montana. “It’s a little surprising only because it looks clean when you look outside,” she was quoted as saying. “It looks like you have really good air quality, and we don’t have a huge amount of traffic compared to larger cities.”

Lisa Trujillo explains how her medical missions to Ghana have grown over the years in this article in the Standard out of Ogden, UT. “We just kind of branch out a little bit and doors open up,” she was quoted as saying.

Kelly Bietsch’s home care company has been named a finalist in a Small Business of the Year competition, and the firm is profiled in this article in the Columbia, MO, Business Times. “If you sign up to be a small-business owner, that’s what you’re signing up for,” she was quoted as saying. “It bleeds into every facet of your life, but in the end, you are building something you’re proud of.”

Chuck Zuhars’ graduates received their graduation pins recently, and the event was covered in this article in the Huntington, WV, Herald-Dispatch.

Timothy Heinz is running for a trustee position on his local school board and his candidacy is covered in this article on MLive.com out of Michigan. “If I am selected to serve on the Bay City school board as trustee, I promise to serve my community and our students to the best of my ability, with student success as my goal,” he was quoted as saying.
