AARC Government Affairs works routinely with pulmonary organizations and patient advocacy groups on a variety of issues impacting those with chronic respiratory disease. As such, we encourage respiratory therapists to view a new website created by the Dorney-Koppel Foundation that targets:

  • Improved COPD awareness
  • Highlights the reality of undiagnosed millions who are unaware that they have COPD and are at increased risk of serious negative outcomes from COVID
  • The need for appropriate screening and accurate diagnoses of persons at increased risk
  • Effective COPD treatment including pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Equitable funding for COPD research and treatment

The website offers a Public Service Announcement titled “We’re Sounding the Alarm for COVID” airing on national networks such as CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC. It also includes a compelling interview with Dr. Anthony Fauci who discusses COVID-19 and how it affects those with COPD and other comorbidities.

We encourage respiratory therapists to view the video and interview and to promote the messages among their patients and co-workers.
