Leonard Nimoy did a lot to educate the public about COPD before he passed away from the disease last year. His daughter Julie and her husband David Knight are carrying on that mission through their film, COPD: Highly Illogical, and their “crowdsourcing” campaign launched in January is aimed at bringing in the additional funds they need to complete the project.

The AARC is serving as a consultant to the Knights as they work on the film, and we’re asking respiratory therapists everywhere to kick in with support as well. You’ll find lots of great “perks” for donating on the site, but they have also just launched a new referral contest.

The person who raises the most for the campaign through social referrals will be flown out with a friend to NYC from anywhere in the U.S., treated to a night in a hotel, and invited to attend a special performance of Leonard Nimoy’s original play Vincent. Leonard Nimoy himself wrote this dramatic engagement with the life of acclaimed artist Vincent Van Gogh by using the actual letters that the artist exchanged with his brother, Theo Van Gogh.

Please join us in helping to make Leonard Nimoy’s final mission – educating the public about COPD and improving the lives of people who live with it every day – a resounding success!
