AARC Virtual Hill Week 2016On April 12, a record-breaking number of PACT reps will go to Washington in support of legislation important to the respiratory care profession. Learn how you can help.

Virtual Lobby Week starts today! During this time, we need respiratory therapists, pulmonary patients and supporters of the respiratory therapy profession to generate thousands of emails, letters and phone calls to Congress.

Here’s why: As a part of our Capitol Hill Advocacy Day in a few weeks, more than 150 respiratory therapists and patient advocates are going to Washington, D.C., to meet with members of Congress and lobby for support of the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act. You can help our DC-bound Political Advocacy Contact Team in their efforts by contacting your own members of Congress just before they arrive in the nation’s capitol.

We’ve made it as easy as possible to send out an email to your members of Congress.

1.) Go to AARC’s Capitol Connection

2.) Select the version that best describes you (RT, patient, physician, etc.)

Pro tip: You can edit these messages. In fact, the more original the better.

Why the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act

We are excited about the opportunities the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act offers to the profession and to patients with chronic lung disease. Creating greater access to care with an interactive telecommunications system that would include respiratory therapists as covered telehealth practitioners and expanding telehealth services to include respiratory care and remote patient monitoring for patients with COPD, offering these chronically ill patients new ways to manage their disease.

To read more details about how the Medicare Telehealth Parity Act will benefit respiratory therapists and pulmonary patients, see our Frequently Asked Questions page.

Write To Your Representatives Today

Your emails, phone calls or letters will reinforce the message that our PACT reps will be delivering face-to-face. Besides hearing from respiratory therapists, it’s very important that members of Congress also hear from physicians, patients, families, caregivers, and other supporters. Senators and representatives listen intently to voters from home and especially from those of you whose health can be improved when respiratory therapists provide telehealth services.

While you might not be able to “walk the halls of Congress,” your message of support for the respiratory therapy profession and for the patients you serve surely will.
