RT students Courtney Webb, Scott McCully, Ryan Wiggins, Andrew Milton, and Zachary Quigley took part in a recent Flight for Air Climb event to raise funds for the American Lung Association (ALA), reports this article in the Eagle Tribune out of North Andover, MA – and Zachary came out with the second fastest time of all the participants in the competition (1,326 of them)! He climbed the 789 stairs in just five minutes, 17 seconds. The students raised $1,307 for the ALA.

Dorothy Madison Tellin and LaShundra Key are noted for receiving a respiratory therapy scholarship in this article in the Greenwood, SC, Today. Supported by a former hospital CEO in their community who started his career as an RT, the scholarship is made available every year to first and second year students in the Piedmont Technical College program.

Laura Bean’s visit to a 7th grade science class is covered in this article in the Town Times out of Connecticut. Laura taught the kids about the dangers of smoking and vaping and showed them some of the tools of the respiratory care profession, such as a stethoscope and pulse oximeter.

Tracy Marquette’s appointment to a two-year term on the National Association of Asthma Educators’ board of directors is noted in this article in the Baton Rouge, LA, Advocate. Tracy is involved in a range of asthma initiatives in her community, including an asthma management collaborative and summer camp for kids with asthma.

Two recent articles draw attention to Indiana state representative Ronald Bacon. This one in the Anderson, IN, Herald-Bulletin talks about an abortion-related bill he has proposed, while this one on addresses legislation calling for coroners to review autopsy reports that Ronald co-authored with a fellow representative.

Beverly Jacoby and Cheri Werbesky are noted as the instructors for a free smoking cessation program offered by their hospital in this article in The Hour out of Connecticut. The program consists of eight weekly sessions.
