JoJo Miller and Josh Harasty share some great information about the profession in this video on the New York Times website. “We are the Batman of their health care system,” Josh was quoted as saying.

Duane Quinion is congratulated on receiving his college’s Employee Recognition Award in this article in the Wiscasset Newspaper out of Maine. “He is a pleasure to observe in his teaching because of his genuine nature with his students and his easy going humor,” his colleague Christopher Rowse, who nominated him for the award, was quoted as saying.

At age 73, Kay Palmer is still going strong, working both as an RT and as an EMT for the local ambulance service. According to this article in Quad-Cities Online out of Moline, IL, she wouldn’t change a thing. “I love patients,” she was quoted as saying. “I enjoy volunteering to help my community. I just can’t say how much I love it.”

Jonathan Brady Scott and Anne Geistkemper share some great information about the profession in this article in the Chicago, IL, Tribune. “We know and believe…our care positively impacts the lives of our patients,” Anne was quoted as saying. “We are a growing profession, and we will continue to grow.”

RT students Paul Cooper and Chris Powel talked up the respiratory care profession to a group of high school students recently and the event was covered in this article in the Lebanon Express out of Grant Lebanon, OR. Noting that therapists work across the health care spectrum, Paul was quoted as saying, “Our job can go just about anywhere.”

Dawn Lesley Fielding’s upcoming book on overcoming breathing problems aims to help patients with COPD address the many obstacles they face, reports this article in the Ogden, UT, Standard Examiner. “They really need to become more informed so they can ask questions and ask for testing, whatever they need,” Dawn was quoted as saying.

Shanen Lazenby and Emily Nottingham are upbeat about a new grant issued to their school to study the way medical professionals work together during cardiac arrest resuscitation in this article in the Gannon Knight out of Gannon University in Erie, PA. “This study will greatly benefit Gannon’s health care education because instructors will be able to better identify weak spots in resuscitations,” Shanen was quoted as saying.

Deryl Gulliford expresses his gratitude to a local hospital for donating their old plethysmograph to his RT educational program in this article in the Enid, OK, News. “They thought of us and they didn’t have to,” he was quoted as saying.

David Johnson’s students were getting ready for their seventh annual 5k Run/Walk on Mar. 7 and the event was covered in this article in the Columbia, TN, Daily Herald. “It’s exciting to see the 5K continue each year,” he was quoted as saying. “These students all get together and work toward the same goal, so it’s a great bonding experience for everyone involved.”

Sherry Whiteman led three of her students—Justin Foltz, Katy Adams, and Chaney Endicott—on a trip to the Missouri state capitol to advocate for legislation that would help fund ventilator care in nursing facilities across the state and the trip was covered in this article in the Missouri Southern State University Chart. Ronda Bradley joined the group from St. Louis.
