Garry Kauffman receives kudos for being named the AARC’s 2015 Management Specialty Practitioner of the Year in this article in the Winston-Salem, NC, Journal. Garry received the honor at AARC Congress 2015 in Tampa.

Shana Sarbach is the first RT student at Southern State Community College to receive the Debbie Ewing Memorial Scholarship, reports this article in the Highland County Press out of Hillsboro, OH. Debbie Ewing was a member of the RT program’s first graduating class.

Karla Gilliam explains how she found her passion in respiratory care in this article in the Greenwood, SC, Today. “I love that I’m specialized in a certain area,” she was quoted as saying. “We are considered experts in our field.”

Congratulations went to Lauren Rosch for making the Western Technical College President’s List of High Distinction for the fall 2015 semester in this article in West of the I out of Kenosha County, WI. The distinction requires a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Dallas Aune was named Employee of the Year by his hospital and the honor was covered in this article in the Crookston, MN, Times. According to co-worker Mary Ann Boushee, returning patients ask for Dallas by name because of his willingness to go above and beyond to meet their needs. “I consider it a privilege to be able to help our patients while they are sick or healing,” he was quoted as saying. “While awards are wonderful to receive, just knowing that you have helped a patient is truly rewarding enough.’’

Jack Tench comments on problems with a local coal ash basin in this article on the WBTV website out of Charlotte, NC. “What do we want? We want to make sure our families are safe,” he was quoted as saying at a local meeting on the matter.
