COPD9USANext June experts in COPD from across the nation will gather outside of Chicago, IL, for the COPD9USA Conference sponsored by the COPD Foundation and The University of Nebraska Medical Center.

The two day event — June 5–6 — will feature clinical tracks, care delivery tracks, research tracks, patient tracks, and plenary sessions aimed at delivering the evidence-based information physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other health care providers need to effectively care for people with this chronic respiratory condition.

“Respiratory therapists are key members of the multidisciplinary team charged with the care of patients with COPD, and RTs will have a prominent presence at this conference,” says AARC Executive Director Thomas Kallstrom, MBA, RRT, FAARC. “The AARC is encouraging all of its members who are involved in the care of COPD patients to attend and lend their voices to the discussion.”

Kallstrom will moderate the care delivery track on “Pulmonary Rehabilitation – Improvement with Movement” along with Richard Casaburi, MD. Scott Cerreta, BS, RRT, Valerie McLeod, RRT, David Vines, RRT, and Trina Limberg, BS, RRT, are among the speakers

Kallstrom will also co-moderate the care delivery track on “The Team Approach to COPD Care” with Pat Jellen, RN, and James Stoller, MD, and will deliver a talk along with Jellen and Dr. Stoller in that track titled “Barriers to and Solutions for Creating Team Based Approaches to Care.”

The conference will include a poster abstract session as well, and attendees are encouraged to submit abstracts for consideration by March 19. Abstracts may be based on original unpublished research or research that has been published since September 2014. Abstracts that have been previously displayed at other conferences are also welcome.

Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to share the RT’s perspective on COPD care with your colleagues on the multidisciplinary team.
