About the Respiratory Diagnostics Section Chair

Ralph Stumbo, Jr., RRT, CPFT

Ralph is a 1986 graduate of the US Army Respiratory Specialist Course at Ft. Sam Huston in San Antonio, Texas. He has been part of the respiratory team at Kaiser Permanente of Washington since 1987. Ralph has been actively involved in PFTs his entire career taking over leadership of the pulmonary lab in 1995. In 2003 Ralph and Kitty Dunyaski started the hugely successful Respiratory Care Society of Washington (RCSW) Pulmonary Diagnostic seminars. He served as the instructor of the Pulmonary Diagnostics course at Tacoma Community College’s Respiratory Care program from 2005–2007. In 2013 Ralph was honored to be asked to serve on the Pulmonary Function Exam Committee of the National Board for Respiratory Care, where he has served since. In 2014 Ralph Started Apex Pulmonary, a company that specializes in Pulmonary Diagnostic training. Ralph lectures on a variety of topics related to pulmonary diagnostics at both regional and national professional meetings. Ralph has authored and co-authored numerous articles and study published in professional publications. Ralph has a passion to serve and feels there is not a more noble life than one devoted to the service of others. Ralph resides in Federal Way Washington with Sherry, his wife of over 36 years. They have two married daughters who have blessed them with seven grandchildren.
