About the Chair of Adult Acute Care

Maria Madden, MS, RRT, RRT-ACCS

Maria Madden, MS, RRT, RRT-ACCS began her career in 1991, working at the bedside at the University of Maryland Medical Center/R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center (UMMC/STC). She then transitioned into a supervisory role as the Clinical Coordinator of Respiratory Care for the STC and then Clinical Educator. Madden also trained as an ECMO Specialist, providing care to a diverse population of patients from neonates to adults. As her passion for research grew, she had the opportunity to work as a Research Coordinator for the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the STC. The knowledge and experience Madden gained over the years gave her the confidence to take on adjunct faculty member roles for various respiratory programs and as a Clinical Specialist for ICON (Intensive Care On-Line Network). As of July 2020, Madden became a clinical educator for VERO-Biotech while continuing to work at the bedside as a respiratory therapist. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care and a Masters in Respiratory Care Leadership from Northeastern University.
